The first Pannarama Sati School was created in Korea. At present there are six schools in Korea, one in India and one in New Zealand. The focus of these schools is to teach sati meditation alongside the dhamma to help students develop the qualities of awareness, wisdon and happiness, and foster peace in the world.
We hope to open many more Pannarama around the world. In 2012 we will open an International Buddhist College in India. The intention for building this college is to help return the gift of the Buddha back to India. This college will offer a structured study of Buddhist philosophy, sociology and psychology and will accept all mediators.
For those that would like to deepen their meditation practice we have accommodation available for retreats up to 14 days. Pannarama Sati School follows a schedule which includes nine hours of meditation daily and you will be able to meet with Yasala Bhante each day to discuss the progress of your meditation practice. If you would like more information about this wonderful experience click here. Retreat accommodations are subject to availability.
The Pannarama Sati Meditation Centres in India and Korea offer the following training free of charge to everyone.
Anytime - Attend the school anytime you like to meet with one of the monks to learn Buddhism and meditation. There also are many ongoing classes available.
Retreat - To develop your meditation you may stay at the school for any period of time up to three months. Just bring your mind and a willingness to train your mind. During this time students follow a 12 hour schedule of sitting, walking and living meditation, as well as no talking, reading, telephone or eating after 12pm. You will also have an interview three times a week with a monk to help guide your meditation practice.
Temporary Monk - If you would like to develop a deeper meditation practice and understanding of Buddhism you may take temporary vows as a monk. This requires you to follow the same 12 hour schedule of sitting, walking and living meditation, but you also must adhere to rules for behaviour and dress. This is available every year starting in the summer and can be for 1 week to 3 months.
